Successive property booms have handed many Australian downsizers financial windfalls when they finally sell.
Agents are reporting a surge in cashed-up Baby Boomers snapping up luxurious inner-city apartments near shops, restaurants, cultural attractions and transport – a change from previous generations’ well-worn paths to sleepy coastal hamlets or north to Queensland.
Rob Mancini is project sales and marketing manager at MMJ Real Estate, which is marketing a glamorous new high-rise apartment development in the Wollongong CBD called Signature.
Mancini says empty-nesters have been drawn to the high-end architecture, convenience, security and resort-style amenities in the building, 90 minutes’ drive south of central Sydney.
